DRIFTWOOD, PENNSYLVANIA

located about 18 miles east of Emporium, PA along route 120, its a wild area of steep mountains, herds of Elk (including trophy bulls) black bears, deer, turkey, and many other animals.  Driftwood is also the birthplace of Tom Mix who played in over 300 old western movies.  Click HERE to see the history of this famous movie star.  About 1 mile from Tom's birthplace, a small Pennsylvania logging company battles the steep hillsides to thin a stand of 200 year old hemlock trees.  Below are some videos of the timber cutting activity.  All of the lumber from these trees is being sold to Amish mills in Eastern Pennsylvania.
